Savran sky. of the firm of Savransky & Son, flatly denies a statement made by Police Inspector Bruin to the effect that a fire in a stove in the Savransky second-hand store caused a blaze. About 9 o'clock Friday night the proprietor of a lodging house at the corner of Front and Yamhill came to the police station and told Cap tain Slover he thought some one was at tempting to set his piase on fire.. Captain Bruin went to the place to investigate. The stove in which the rags were burn ing had been purchased in the afternoon and had been standing on the sidewalk for three hours. It was warm when pur chased, but the proprietors of the store thought the fire was out when they took it inside. In his report Captain Bruin stated that the fire In the stove was blazing and had threatened to spread. He also stated that he extinguished the Are with -a few buckets of water, while the proprietor found on opening the store this morning that a small drinking cup had been used. Slight Wound Causes Death. George Galloway, aged 25 years, died from lock jaw at St. Vincent's Hospital yesterday morning. The first symptoms of the fatal disease were noticed early yes terday morning, when Galloway rushed from his room in his night clothing, frothing at the mouth. The police took charge of him and conveyed him to the hospital, where he died. Coroner Finiey caused an autopsy to be held, which dis closed the facts. Galloway's mother lives at. St. Johns. She is ill and has not been apprised of her son's death. To Ixt-Buters. Persons contemplating the purchase of one or more residence lots should inspect the new addition in lrvington, lying between East Seventh and Kast Thirteenth and Thompson and Brazee streets. Thompson street is to be paved with bitulithie pavement: all other streets macadamized: cement walks, park ing, shade trees, sewer, gas and water pipes to each lot, and reasonable building restrictions. This Is not a mere promise, but is being done now. Think it over. Why buy out in the country when lots in this desirable and close-in addition are selling for such low prices and easy terms? For which call on or address Charles K. Henry & Son, 132 Third street, Portland. Or. Streetcar Inspdctors Named.
