SQiry Moran, -who died In this city oi Friday last, "was bom at rtobb's Ferry, 2Cew York, 47 years ago. She removed with her mother, Mrs. Scott, to San Fran. Cisco In 1867, -where she -was married a year or two later to Patrick Moran, who has been known for many years In con nection -with the O. It. & N. Mrs. Moran was one of the gentlest and kindliest of women, a good wife, mother and neigh bor, who, though she lead a retired, do mestic life. Is mourned by a wide circle of acquaintances. For the last 23 years she had resided continuously at the fam ily residence on Ninth street, near Flan ders, and during all that time lived irf the utmost peace and harmony with all around her. She left a husband and fam ily, comprising the Misses Nelly and May, and John and "Willie; her mother and a brother to sincerely mourn her loss. The luneral will take place at 2 o'clock to day from St. Mary's Cathedral, and the Interment will be in St. Mary's cemetery. The Dekum Baths have changed hands, and will now be operated as treatment rooms, where plain and electric water baths, salt glows, vapor, radiation. Sin usoidal, Russian, medicated, sea salt, sul phur, shower and milk baths, hot and cold milk sprays, shampoos, fomenta tions, Swedish movements, pongee packs, electricity in Its -various forms, friction, oil rubs, mafrage, etc, will be given by carefully trained nurses, under the direc tion of a competent physician. M., remain at the beach until 5 P. M. and reach Portland at 9:40 P. M. From Astoria to the beach trains will run daily at S:15 A. M and 11:35 A. M.; leave Seaside at 2:30 P. M and 5 P. M.. connecting at Astoria with Portland train. Arrangements have also been made with the I. R. & N. Co. for a daily boat to con nect with morning train from -Portland, leaving Astoria at 2 P. M.. and making ! direct connection at Ilwaco with train for JNorth Beach points. Also boat to leave Ilwaco In. afternoon to connect with even ing train for Portland. Paying the Interest. City Treasurer Frank Hacheney yesterday forwarded $12,531 23 to the National Park Bank of New York to meet the semiannual in terest on the bridge bonds, which Is due July L There are 00 of these Interest coupons, of $25 each, amounting in all to $12,300. The bank charges one-fourtn ot 1 per cent commission, which makes up the balance of the bill. This, however, is only a small part of the city's interest bill which falls due July X. The Interest on the water bonds, amounting to JTZOTO, and Interest on the City Hall debt, amounting to J1CS75, both fall due in July arid January. The Treasurer is ready to meet these demands, and the money will be paid at his ofllce the day It Is due. Selling Old Horse. The Wells-Fargo Express Company had an "old horse" sale on Fourth street yesterday after noon. A big crowd gathered around the auctioneer, and bidding was lively. If not heavy, throughout. No one could know what he was buying, and this appeared to stimulate the buyers. The size of the bid depended largely upon the size of the package, but It did not always turn out that the largest bundle contained the most valuable goods. One man bought a big roll for 40 cents. When he opened it tip it was found to be a lot of last year's circus advertisements, which the advance agent had failed to call for. Mormon Church Conference. Tha, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Western Oregon branch, hold their annual conference today in Allsky building at 10 A. M., 2 and 7:30 P. M. There will be many elders of this de nomination in attendance. Including sev eral noted Utah officials. They earnestly desire that the citizens of Portland will attend their services and hear the prin ciples and ordinances of their faith, as expounded by their own members. Collector of Customs Patterson has refused to land nine Chinese and three Japanese who came here on the Monmouthshire, and they are held in the County Jail await ing deportation to their native country. The Japanese are a man, his wife and ni sister-in-law. The women are young and quite good-looking. They bewail their fate, and don't seem to understand why they are incarcerated. Visiting Forester. Tomorrow evening a social session will be held in G. A. R. Hall to give the Foresters of America an opportunity of meeting John J. Cordy, grand secretary of California, who Is so journing in this city enjoying his vaca tion.
