Ia lilt bra the present building waa coaitnietM. It waa tbouibl tbe troeture would be entirely adequate for tbe need of tbe district fur many year to come, but within a year after tba balldlnf was opened the number of ttadenta that vera attracted to Oregon City becauM of tba superior educational facllitlet offered became to treat that room baa been at a prem ium ever since. Tba auditorium was turned Into a elaaa room tba ftrat uf tba year and there are now nearly 100 itudrnta enrolled In tba Tarlout de partments of tba high school, about 00 of tbem being out of town pupil, who par tuition. Leaa tban a month aco tba board of directors learned that tba last legisla ture bad enacted a Uw that la llael to reeolt In a largely lncresed attend anre In tba high school next year. This law provides. In substance, that tbe tuition of pupils wbo do not have the higher educational facilities In their respective, districts shall be paid by a general tax levied by the county on all property except that located wltbln the limits of the high school districts. It will naturally follow. It la expected that tbe number of high school stu dent that will come to Oregon City from other districts In Clackamas county may be double tbe present num ber, aa tbe tuition will not come out of the pockets of tbe parents of these students, but will be paid by a general tax. based upon tbe actual cost per capita of educating high school stu dents In the respective districts where high schools are situated. Tbe directors are preparing to ob tain an estimate of tbe cost of con structing an addition to the building that will be adequate tor several yean - hence, and if the plan of Increasing the facilities Is found to be practicable. It la very probable that no time will be lost in getting the matter under way, In order that the new addition win be ready to care for tbe Increased attendance at the opening of the school next fall. lUKER.
