We are running this week for the first time, the formal announcement ef Warren Brown for the office of ounty clerk to succeed himself. Mr. Brown has been clerk of Crook county for a number of year,, and his record is an enviable one. He is known personally to a great many of the voters, and is in a position to poll a heavy vote. It is not probable that he will have any contest for the nomination but of course will be opposed at the general election by a republican fandid.it. BRINK REPUBLICAN FOR CIRCUIT JUDGE J.H. HANER A CANDIDATE. We announce in this issue ot the Journal the candidacy of J. H. Haner, for County Clerk on the Republican ticket. Mr. Haner is well known here, having been in the abstract business in this city for years. He is the only Republican yet in the race, and his is the first srrrjounement to be given the peo ple thus far. He is now a resident of Bend, being connected with the timber interests there. TO POISON RABBITS. Mix a tablespoonful of gloss starch bi a half teacup of cold water, and stir into one half pint of boiling water to make a thin, clear, muci lage. Mix one ounce of powdered strychnine with one ounce of powdered bicarbonate of soda, and stir with the starch to a smooth creamy mass, free of lumps. Stir ne forth of a pint of heavy corn syrup and a tablespoonful of glycerine, and finally a scant tea spoonful of saccharine. Appy to 20 quarts of oats, and mix thoroughly to coat each kernel. Each quart of poisoned grain is enough for 40 to 60 baits. This amount scattered along squirrels iraiis, or on clean, nard places on the surface in proximity of squirrel bobs, will not endanger stock.
