Windom et al petition for county road is dismissed be cause of a greater number of re monstrators than petitioners. i f ZTZ rr2 If V:- ,-::': W ' Crooked River Adjudications Finished Water Supt. Cochran came in last Saturday night and on Mon day morning the 11th inst. finished up the last of the bear ings of contests in the Crooked River adjudications. An order was made giving the attorneys in each of the contests until the loth of December to file written briefs if they so desire and until the 1st of January to file any reply briefs. Mr Cochran says the work of tabulating the uncontested claims is nearing completion so that a decision of the Board of Control can be expected by the first of n 1 mi . 1 reuruury. inis men would en able the - watermaster of the county to take charge of the ad- Louis W, Hill, Chairman of the Board of Directors . of the Great Northern Railway, whose advocacy of the local county fair as one of the greatest agencies for rapid de velopment that a community can use, has signalized his interest in the success of the Pacific Northwest Land Products show by offering a silver cup as a special prize for the ministration of the water distri bution during the next irrigation season. A great many of the contests that were filed have been settled by stipulation be tween the parties and there are only two or three in which there are complicated questions for the decision of the Board of Control. Not only the farmers but also the business men of all classes are interested in these settle ments of water rights. It reduces the' use of water to a system. It makes t'ue the farmers more secure.. It makes loans better. It harmonizes the community. The whole country is taking a forward step in its development. community exhibit of agricultural and horticultural products exhibited at the show. Every larmer is urged to send in his choicest exhibits and compete for this prize. Great honor and credit is due the farmers who have the enterprise and public spirit necessary to display the fruits of their industry. Petition for electric franchise by George Jacobs tor the construction, operation and maintenance of elec tric light power and utility lines and private telephone line in con nection with the same over the fol lowing described county roads, to wit: From Cline Falls to Red mond; on all county roads within a radius of five miles of Redmond; from Redmond to O'Neil; from Redmond to culver via Terrebonne; from Terrebonne to O'Neil and to a point where the east line of sec 28 in township 14 south, range 15 east crosses the county road and to Rye Grass. This petition contemplates only the erection of poles, stringing of wires, installing equipment and the transmission, sale and distribu tion of electric current along ' the routes indicated, and the operation of a private telephone line in con nection therewith. The Prineville Light & Water Co petitioned for a franchise for the construction, operation and main-! tenance of electric light, power and utility lines and a private telephone line in connection therewith over and along the following described county roads, to-wit: From Prine ville to Mill creek; from Prineville to the forks of McKay creek; from Prineville to Rye Grass schoolhouse or Fairview farm; from Prineville to Lamonta; from Prineville to the east line of sec 28, township 14 south, range 15 east. It is ordered, adjudged and de creed by the court that the petition of the petitioners be granted, and that thi petitioner, George Jacobs, and his assigns, be and they are hereby granted a franchise, ease ment and right-of-way over and along the county roads of Crook county as above described, for the construction, operation and main tenance of electric power, light and utility lines and a private telephone lint in connection therewith, and that all such lines be so constructed, operated and maintained so as not to interfere with or hinder or ob struct other electric or telephone lines that may now or at any time hereafter may have a franchise, easement or right-of-way along said county roads. The petitioner and his assigns shall keep and maintain a 16-candle power light on Cline Falls bridge at all times that any of his or their electric light lines shall be within one-fourth mile or less from sail bridge.
