Willamette Dallas hremen Hex! Annual Banquet This Week (Capital Journn I "alias. Or.. Jan. :.'.". The Dallas I niru held iheir annual banquet in the Imperial hotel Tuesday night, with a litre course ciimu'r. These guests all made short talks to the fire noys. The officers of the Dallas Tire department are: J. C. Muscott. ehief; Clyde Oibbs, assistant ehief: Walter Hallnntyne, president and Diek Webster, treasurer; Clifford Smith, seeretary. The banquet was pronounced one of the pleasing a, fairs of tire year. Hartley Home Sold The C. C. Hartley home on Washing tun street has been sold fcjr the owner to Roy Hollonay. a recent arrival in Dallas who is associated with F. E. Davis in the furniture business. The property eonsists of n large ten room house and is "one of the newest resi dences in the eUy, ami three lots. Mr. Hartley ami family may decide to move to Salem in the near future. Dallas Fruit Farm Sold The tract of land situated one mile south (Mist of this city known as the Diillns Fruit Farm and owned by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ward was sold this week to T. C stockwell, J. M. Cirant and V. J. White. The new owner- will lui the place cleared and planted to prune trees this spring. Car of Fords Arrive in Dallas A carload of Ford automobiles was received in Dallas this week by the Shreeve garage. The machines are of the 1917 touring car model and already a number of them have been sold. Be fore the arrival of the shipment the Dallas agency had cojitr.iftod for IS machines. The lime question has bees discussed in the locul grange and the members have decided to get some expe rience first hand. The giant stripe at the school house is giving so much satisfaction that the girls have decided to erect one for their special use. Pratum Items (Capital Journal Special Service.) Pratum, Ore., Jan. 25. Little Chester Root, aged three vers, died here last Thursday, of membranous croup. The child was seriously ill for less than an hour before death occurred. He was laid to rest Sunday in the Mennonite cemetery east of Pratum. The children of the three upper, grades I in the advanced room visited the state (legislature Inst Friday. Some went by automobile but the major portion went 'by train- They spent the forenoon visit ing the two nouses ot me legislature and the afternoon in viewing other sights about Salem. The boys all in spected the condemned steel bridge, while the girls were permitted a view of the vaults in one of the banks. All arrived safely home Friday evening.
