trial jury there is either "a knave or
a fool." It may be said also that on
some juries there may be both.' This
is not meant to reflect on some of the
work of the late grand jury of this
county. It according to the report
found the driver of the auto that cans
ed the death of Miss Rigdon " not I
guilty." Who could expect a different
verdict! Who ever heard of a serious
and fatal accident in which anybody
was to blame, excepting probably the
one who was killed. The psychology of
the individual juror and of the com
bined jurors in a verdict is almost be
ond explanation. From this may have
arisen the "knave .and fool," aphorism.
Still in the case cited why blame the
driver when the clsjt allows him or she
to drive fast enough to kill the unfor
tunate citizen whiT has the right of
way? Why not indict the city?
