As a result of a conference between ,the stato highway commission with a I delegation of county officials and Rep resentative Vawter, of Jackson county, and lit presentative K. E. Blnuchard, of iJosephine county, it was tacitly under jstood that Highway Engineer t'niitinc, i in co-oiierution with the county court 4. - - ,.l .1.1..,. unu ruiuiuciors, lueasuiL- m' ,,nv, u, mine what is the contractor's just due for work claimed to have ben performed over arid above the estimate of former Highway .Engineer liowlby and to ar rive at a just and equitable adjust ment of the differences between the county court and Contractor Sweeney. It was also made a matter of record, up on the request of Kepresentative rilitn chard, of Josephine county, that 5,00( of Jackson county's 2d per cent of the highway fund be expended in Jose phie county. The Jackson county court was repre sented by County Judge Madden while Representative W. I. Vawter, of Med ford, appeared on behalf of the people of Both Jackson and Josephine. Leslie Butler, ot Hood River, 111 d John II. Albert, of Salem, members of the ad visory board to the highway commis sion, were also present at the hearing.
