That the northwest waa entering iiio an era of great prosperity was the announcement today of A L. Mills, president of the Port hind Clearing House associa tion and tfie First National bank. Mills predicted that wheat and flour to the value of :t0, OW.OOO will be exported to fos rign ports this year, an increase of several million dollars over last year. He also stated that the lum ber market will soon move up ward, and that the domestic consumption will take care of the apple crop. "The 'man with the hoe' will he exceptionally well off," de clared Mills. j The Markets Wheat prieea showed no falling off yesterday but sales did, only a few small lots changing hands. Big dealers were not anxious and a alight reduc tion in prieea at Chicago caused a ten derness among, buyers. There were some sales at a trifle less than the day be lore but the reduction was truling, amounting to a cent on some aales of club. Oats shaded off 75 cents a ton, being quoted at 28.io. Barley waa 60 cents a Un higher, 2.30 being ottered for feed and $23 for export. In hopa but little was doing. McNeff brothers bought 100 bales here at V cents. A sale at' 513 bales of Honoinas was reported at fl cents. A car of head lettuce was received from Lob Angeles and put on sale at $2 for crated and 1.!0 for half crates. Cali fornia grapes are about cleaned up ana prieea are firm wholesaling at 3S cents a dozen. In a limited way a cent or two better than thi is being paid, and before the end or the week the price will probably ho ver around 42 to 45 cents. PRUNE SHIPMENTS DROP. Say Resistance b Stubborn. New Bufet Is morKet ia well supplied. 1'otatoes and onions are each selling at 90 cents to -ft a sack. Kggs rungs troul 37 to 40 cents for candled with ease count go ing at 35 and storage at 28 to 30 cents. At Chicago wheat prices dropped, sell ing spot rath for $1.13 to $1.14. Shipments of prunes out of Califor nia by land and sea for the month of September were 8417 tons, compared ith 9445 tons for September a year ago, and 2(152 tons for September, 1012. Last year there was a very largo carryover of old-crop prunes, and a large quantity of these went forward during the month of September, which was not the case this year, as the state was absbolutely cleaned up. The ship ments this year represent a much larg er percentage of new fruit than went forward last year for the sumo month.
