He has been very ill for the past few davs and will spend a couple weeks at his home in the metropolis recuperating. Mr. and Mrs. G. G. Cowles, of Al bany, are in the city today visiting friends, and incidentally Mr. Cowles is looking after a few little matters of business. Mr. and Mrs. George J. Eittner left this morning for their home in Billing, Montana, after visiting with friends and relatives in Salem and Portland for the past month. Mr. Bittner, be fore leaving today, said he did not want to go but that he must for the reason he had about 1500 head of cattle near Billings which need his personal attention. When asked whether he owned any blooded stock in Montana or not, Mr, Bittner said that all of his cattle are blooded "run a mile in any old time." An informal dance was given at the Hotel Marion last evening by the ladies of the Episcopal church. About 200 persons responded to invitations, some entire families bolng present.
