' Oliildreirary FOR FLETCHER'S CASTORI A I The State Desert Land Board has de cided to tender employment to a wo man whose husband was killed while working on the Tumalo irrigation pro ject and to recommend that tho legisla ture make an appropriation of $2500 to be given her in case she does not bring suit against the contractor. It was de cided that the money should be paid from the $150,000 appropriation for he claiming the land, and the board or dered $2500 of tho appropriation set aside for that fund. The man was crushed to death by a derrick and the coroner's jury absolved the contractor and all others from any blame. Project Engineer Taurgaard was authorized to take out liability insur ance to eontinuo until July 1. STRIKE PROBE PLANNED. UNITED ritKRS I.KAHBD WISE. Washington, Jan. 29. Two commit tees from the house of representatives will leave Monday for Michigan and Colorado to probe strikes in progress there. The investigations will start as soon as the committeemen arrive. It was estimated that the Colorado strike investigation will last between three and four weeks, and that in the Michi gan copper strike from four to five weeks.
