larged upon the errors until today the

tian today gives open or secret sup

disown these doctrines. Denomination
al names stand as representative of

pieces of Christ Thus the doctrine of
Apostolic Succession was gradually es
tablished. Jesus prophesied of these,
describing them as false apostles,
"which say they are apostles and are
not," but do lie. (Bevelatlon 2:2.) As
the bishops received credit as being
living Apostles, the Inspired words of
Jesus and The Twelve Apostles whom
He appointed took second place, and
wltb the masses Bible study ceased as
wholly unnecessary.
Upon this foundation, the great Ad
versary built, Hem by Item, the ter
rible doctrines of, purgatory and of
eternal torture. When Anally, In the
Sixteenth Century, the Bible again
began to be consulted, Satan so work
ed matters that some of our 'forefa
thers retained the Hell of Indescribable
torture for all except the elect few
repudiating because not Scriptural the
only ameliorating feature the purga
torial theory.
Their eyes blinded with the errors of
fourteen centuries of no Bible study
tho errors of human theories and doc
trines of demons can we wonder that
tho enlightenment of the past three
centuries has come very slowly? Even
when we were getting free from the
errors. Satan, our wily foe. entrapped
our forefathers Into the making of
creeds, and thus hindered further prog
ress out of tho darkness Into the light,
for which we all cry out
"Lead, Kindly Light, Amid the En
circling Gloom!"
The seducing spirits mentioned by
St. Paul are surely none others thnn
the fnllen angels, of whom Satan Is
tho chief, or "prince o dovlls." As St.
Paul suggests, there Is a similarity
between the deception of the Church
and the original deception of Mother
Eve. Eve was beguiled Into believing
that God's threat, "Dying, thou Shalt
die," could not be true. Tho serpent
declared, "Yo shall not surely die."
Thus deceived by tho serpent's He.
Mother Eve was ensnared and led her
husband and our race Into death.
And now note tho parallel. The se
ducing spirits, the fallen angels, have
sought to perpetuate in the Church
the very snmo falsehood which misled
Mother Eve. And they have succeed
ed. By visions, dreams, tipping tables,
trance mediums, clnlraudlent powers,
mesmeric powers, hypnotic powers,
they have deceived the Christian
Church, even as they had previously
deceived tho heathen, Into thinking
that the dead are really alive. Upon
that foundation they have built tht
doctrine of tho tortures of Hell and
Purgatory, and su'wenuontly. doctrines
of mussel; and prayers for tho deliver
ance of the dead from Purgatory, nnd
doctrines respecting God's having fore
ordained and predestinated all except
tho Elect to eternal anguish.
The Pastor's Thankaglvlng, '
On Thursday last, when my heart
went out to God In special thanksgiv
ing for all the mercies of life, t gave
nim special thanks that gradually the
eyes of my understanding nre opening,
enabling mo to see Him In the glorious
light of His great, loving Plan of Sal
vation for the church and for the
world. My thanks for all temporal
mercies and blessings were dwarfed
as tho anthem of my soul went up,
and I repented the text of today, "Holy,
holy, holy. Lord of Hosts!"
Ah! It Is n blessed thought that God
has already made provision that Mes
siah's Kingdom shall bo established;
that Satan shall bo bound and shall
deceive men no more; anil that, Instead
of the darkness of Ignorance and super
stltlon, the glorious light of God's
goodness shall shine forth, causing the
earth to bo lllled with Tils praises!
With great patience God has penult
ted His plans nnd His character to be
misrepresented and traduced. Yet we
can sco a wisdom In this; for even
tually, when all the blind eyes shall be
opened and all the deaf ears shall hi
unstopped, when all the delusions of tht
past the hobgoblins of seducing spirits
and the doctrines of devils shall hnvt
gone, the Lord's precious character
and loving provision for our fnllen race
will stand forth In glorious rndlnnc.
Whom to Know Is Life.
Tho Savior declares, "This Is life
eternal, that they might know Thee,
tho only true God, and Jesus Christ,
whom Thou bast sent." (John 17:3.)
Evidently He mount by this that who
ever would have an Intimate acquaint
ance with God must bo received again
Into God's family; that those who dr.
not come back Into God's family will
never know Him In the true sense ot
tho word be able to appreciate the
glories of Ills grand character His
Justice, Ills Wisdom, Ills Power nnd
Ills Love. Such knowledge Is Impart
ed only to thoev brought Into the fam
ily and made partakers of God's Spirit.
In tho present time only a very few
of our fa lieu nice are able to take the
steps which lend to this Intense, deep
knowledge of Jehovah. The great
mass of mankind are blinded by Igno
rance, superstition and the weaknesses
of their fallen nature. Hut God Is not
content that merely the elect Church
shall have this knowledge of Illui and
this opiHirt unity for everlasting life.
Ills glorious purpose encompass tho
world of mankind. Ills Divine ar
rangement Is two-fold: tlrst. that "all
the blind eyes shall bo opened and all
the deaf ears shall be unstopped"; sec
ond, that "the glory of the Lord shall
be revealed nnd all Hob shall see It
together." nd that "the knowledge of
Clod's glory shall (III the whole earth.

Truth. We cannot judge from onr
own experiences. We must remember
that God recognizes human free agen
cy, the will; and that He seckeUi only
such to worship Him as worship Him
In spirit and In truth.
The Scriptures make clear that only
Those who shall learn to love righteous
ness and to hate Iniquity, evil In the
present time as member of tbe elect
Church, or In the future Age as restor
ed humanity only such will be judged
worthy of life by the Great Judge.
Any sympathy with sin, after having
known of Its bitter fruits, and after
having been recovered" from the curse,
will be a crime an evidence of failure
to learn tbe great' lessons of -seven
thousand years lessons of the exceed
ing sinfulness of sin lessons; of God's
Justice In punishing sin lessons in
God's Mercy in providing forgiveness
for our Bins and release from them nnd
from their penalty lessons In the hu
mility of our Redeemer lessons in the
cost of recovery from Sin and Death.
Whoever, after all these lessons,
would still be sympathetic with sin.
would, according to the Bible, be nn
worthy of everlasting life. For the
Scriptures assure us that death is the
penalty for sin. that the soul that sln
neth must die, and that the gift of
God Is eternal life through Jesus Christ
our Lord, which will be given only to
those wise enough and loyal enough to
use it in accord with the great Cre
ator's regulations and laws, framed for
the benefit of nis creatures and for
the glory of nis name.
"Have Patience, Brethren."
Thoso whose eyes of understanding
are gradually opening to see the real
glory of Jehovah's character as re
flected In His great Plnn nf the Ages
may well have patience with others
who aco not as yet. The fact that our
own eyes were bo long in opening, the
fact that we were as honest and sincere
beforo ns we are "how, should lead us
to assume that the same conditions ap
ply to our brethren, professed people
of God. everywhere. Moreover, we are
not to bo Judges one of another. Pro
claiming the Truth In ns nearly as
possible the Bible words, we are to be
content to deliver our Message and to
leave to the Ird the results.
It Is ours to point out the horrible
confusion Into which the Lord's people
got during the Dark Ages, and which
Justified tho Lord In culling the nomi
nal church Babylon. It Is ours to
point out tho Message of tho Lord,
saying, "Babylon Is fallen. Is fallen
from Dlvlno favor! Come out of
her, My people, that ye be not partak
ers of her sins, nud that ye receive not
of her plagues." , Whoever sees that
tho entire nomlnni church system of
all denominations Is the Babylon re
ferred to by the Lord has the respon
sibility of tho Lord's Message without
any urging on our part.
Whoever sees tho blasphemy of tho
noly Name sees that misrepresenta
tion of the Divine Plan, making the
world drunk with the wine of fnlse
doctrine, has been amongst the crimes
of Babylon, nnd should wish forthwith
to como out of her. to share no longer
In her misrepresentation, however
much blended with forms of holiness.
Whoever, after seeing tho reiil char
acter of Babylon and the horrible work
which Satan has deluded her Into do
ing, still has sympathy with her nnd
with her work nnd with her blasphe
mies nnd distortions of tho Truth
such persons deserve to share In the
confusion that Is shortly to como to
Babylon when she shall fall as a great
millstone Into the sen.
"Light Is sown for the righteous:
Truth for tho upright In heart." Those
who do not receive the Truth ns meat
In duo season have reason to fear that
they (To not belong to the class de
scribed by the Prophet as tho right
eous And ns the upright In heart Hon
esty seems to be n quality which the
Lord holds In very high esteem. The
dishonest In word or conduct or In
their thoughts nre an nbomlnntlon to
Hlin, and should not expect to receive
special favor or light or knowledge.
Wo may well Imagine that the entire
Millennial Ago will be one grand
Thanksgiving Day. in which tho num
bers who will praise God will be con
tinually Increasing as more nnd more
they awaken from the tomb, As their
eyes shall see nnd their ears shall hear
of the grace and love of God, every
tongue will confess, while every knee
will bow. not only to Jesus the He
deemer, but to the gracious Creator,
who formed the Plnn which the Mil
lennium will execute.
Praise to God In Heaven and Earth,
The Master gltes assurance that ulti
mately there will be no place where
curses and blasphemies will be hoard
no place where rebels against God and
His goodness will remain. All such
wilful, Intelligent sinners will Anally
be destroyed in the Second Death.
Then will come the grand anthem of
the Pnlverse; "Every creature In
Heaven, and In earth, heard 1 saying.
Praise, glory, honor. dominion nnd might
be until Him who sltteth nm the
Throne, and unto the Lamb, forever.','
That will be the glorious Day men
tioned by onr Master In His prayer,
"Thy Kingdom come: Thy will be done
on earth, ns It Is done In Heaven."
And because God's will shall be ns
completely done n earth ns In Heaven,
therefore sin. sorrow, sickness, pain
nnd death will no longer be condition
on earth, even as they are not condi
tions In lletiveu. Thus will be fulfilled
the Master's word, that there shall be
no more dying, crying, sighing, for nil
the formei thing shall hnve pa-wed
sway. He that sits upon the Throne
shall have made all tl.tm.-s new, ami
thus In Ills Messianic Kingdom God
will have wiped away all lean from
off all face.
Something About What Haa Been Ac
complished in Southern Oregon in
Handling Products.

Medford, Or., Dec. 13. Medford,
Oregon, has one of the best known pub
lic markets in the country, and is get
ting much publicity from it. E. J.
Bunyard is market master and has the
charge of the municipal enterprise since
its start, May 25, 1912. Concerning the
market Mr. Eunyard Says:
r'Our public market has been a suc
cess from the start. It was built by
the city and is operated and controlled
by the city. There are 24 booths and
the farmers and gardnerg pay $3 per
month rental, the meat men $7.50.
"I regulate the price of products.
The products are confined to Jackson
county. The market is open Tuesday,
Thursday and Saturday and that per
mits the producer to attend to his other
duties and get ready for the next mark
et day.
"At the beginning, before the city
decided to build, there was strong oppo
sition from the grocers and meat-market
men, but that feeling has disappeared
and the grocers buy from, the market
for their families and sometimes for
thoir stores.
"The public is satisfied; the market
moans a living to many growers, and of
ten the sales foot up to $800 or more.
One Saturday this season 3200 melons
and 600 boxes of peaches were sold.
Berries and cherries are not counted by
the crate, but figured bythe ton. Dairy
buttor, eggs, home baking booths, are
always sold out early. Towns 50 to 75
miles distant keep a buyer hore in fruit
season to buy and ship. This has also
eliminated the peddler with his poor
stock, as the market is subject to county
inspection."
A visit to the Medford market shows
a well lighted and neat appearing build
ing with coment floors and tho general
appearance of a largo garage. Saturday
it is crowded. All kinds of gardon,
orchard and vegetablo products, fresh
and wholesome, are displayed In neat
booths.
As an instance of tho way the opera
tion of the market has changed the at
titude of the merchants there is told
tho case of Mrs. Frye, a residout of
Trail, 4(1 miles from Medford. Last
summer sho brought in a wagon load of
chickens and sold them at prices above
what she could have obtained by ship
ping and the consumer obtained them
at figures much lowor thnn would have
been possible if they had passed through
two or three hands. Mrs. Frye then
called on a local merchant and bought
a bill of goods. The merchant had 'not
seen he for 10 years, and was glad to
regain a customer. She had not done
any trading in Medford during that
tune.
Tables on which as a rulo household
necessities and luxuries are sold are
rented for 30 cents a day, and some
very tempting canned and pescrved
fruit, bread, pics, enkes, etc., are dis
played by housewives who are proud of
the trade their skill draws tof thorn.
Sometimes one of the chun-hos sets up
a table, and at other times a countrv
homo mistress exhibits her homo
products.
"Little pigs for sale" is a sln that
attracts, nnd the market master ex
plains that a fanner has sold over 100
little pigs through the market this
season. Pcoplo seeing tho sign tele
phone to him if he is not at hand, anl
there is no commission.
O. I. Ames lives 10 miles north of
Medford, and on his stnnd, had soinj
fine yellow corn for which ho taks
orders, selling several tons in that way.
Strawberries are sent in from 20 to ."0
miles away, sometimes 80 crates being
brought in at a time by a single grow
er during the busy season.
All Mock must be sold fresh; no stale
and willed exhibits are allowed. The
farmers bring in their fresh meat as the
weather gets cool and tho heaps of sav
ory sparerib.i and the half and whole
hogs on sale do much to reduce the higli
cost of living.
Prom the mines of northern Californ
ia and adjacent country comes to tho
market master many orders for fruit.
This season 1.10 boxes of peaches wera
"hipped from the market direct to cor
sinners in Portland. Orders are fre
tpiontly turned over to local merchant
to fill. The people of Medford are sat
isfied that tho public market is a god
thing for every one, and that it hns
come to stay.
One effect of tho establishment if
the market has Wen to increase tho do
sirshitity and consequently the value of
real estate in that section of the town.
The Medford people have discovert -1
that it doc-a no harm to have tho pro
ducer and consumer come together with
out a fine, tax or license.

writer a fine load of corn that was sold
for a good price to local consumers. It
wa brought 12 miles front the ellnton
Unworn raiii-h and was raised between
tho tree of an orchard. They thought
it equalled six acres of solid corn', ni l

had 600 bushels raised between trees or
22 acres. "Feeding it out," he said.
