FBOM SIX-MONTHS' TBIP
R. R. Ryan, the well-known local re
former and Socialistic loader, and bis
wife have returned after a trip through
the Kast, covering a period of six
months.
Mr. Rvan declare that land in the
East of the same grade as Oregon land
sells for at least .TO per cent higher.
Mr. Ryan says he was affordod the
pleasure of correcting Humorous false
impressions about Oregon. Many peo
ple, says Mr. Kyan, throughout tho
Eastern states are inquiring about con
ditions ami opportunities on the Ore
gon coast, anil he says thut he did his
best to give them favorable enlighten
men. California, according to Mr. Ky

worst cooked place in the world.''
Against Trading Stamps.
At a noon meeting of the Salem
Ibisiucss Men's League at the Marion
Motel today, war was declared to the
death on a certain trading stamp con
cern, which now has representatives in
Salem attempting to work up a trailing
stamp business among local merchants.
A public meeting of the league is to be
held at the headquarters of the Salem
Hoard of Trade tomorrow night at 7:110
o'clock, when the trailing stamp ques
tion will be further discussed.
L6ng ago the Salem business men, al
most unanimously, declared against the
use of trading stamps, which they pro
nounces a bogus method of procuring
trado. The present trailing stamp rep
resentatives have only recently arrived
here, and, as soon as their presence
was made known to members ot tho
league, a meeting of that organization
was called, witli a view of putting nil
end to the business in this city with
out much delay.
Other questions will be discussed nt
the meeting tomorrow night. One of
the subjects will be that of fake adver
tising. The league is adopting a new
rating book, which will also come in
for a large part of the forensic efforts
of the members at the meeting.

"The following extract from the

CAUSE OF THE BLOOD
Fred Bynon, the renl estate man, put
one over this morning that made the
reporter look far away and Bay nothing.
Fred has a big bunch of red bunting
over the door of his place of business
which has succumbed to the rain to the
extent that a largo pool of red fluid
stands on the sidewalk.
"How do you account for this' pool
of blood in front of your door J" the
realty man was asked.
"We're cutting prices iu real estate

Traffic in Flesh and Blood.
It has been said that hnrd work for
a weak sickly woman is trnffic in flesh

with backache, headache, nervousness,
bearing down pains nnd the blues,
would remember that I.ydia E, Pink
