A story of Ralph Connor, author. This story needs no explanation. Wliut Mr. Newens does with it may. May Robson has achieved the un usual distinction of being the best de lineator of eccentric women having a quaint humor. It has been stated and the statement frequently repeated, that women in general have no keen senBe of humor. Miss Robson is assuredly a living contradiction to this asser tion. May Robson is an actress of ex quisite pose, enunciation clear and distinct, and her transitions from touching pathos to joviality is a reve lation. In the new play, "A Night Out," she will appear In the character of a good natured, but eccentric old lady who la held In great esteem by her two grandsons, since she simply doteB on them and enters Into their love troubles, acting as a Bort of a guardian; therefore, she easily per suades the boys. to take her to a fash ionable restaurant in New York. She ia entirely innocent of the character of the place, and is enjoying the nov elty of the surroundings, wnen me police raid the place. "Grannum" and the boys are hiratled Into the street by Mitza, the dancing girl, and a po liceman, whom Granmum has bribed. Arriving home they find the doors locked and the lights out. The boys overcome this by climbing up the Ivy and assisting Granmum through the window. Her hat Is crushed, jacket torn, nppearance generally not of the very best. The complications arising from this early morning return forms tho basis of the humor and ludicrous situations. The character of "Gran mum" arfords Miss Robson full oppor tunity for her natural girts In the portrayal of eccentric characters, in which the expressions of pathos and humor are alternately and naturally expressed. Miss Robson will appear at the Grand, April 20, supported by Jack Storey, Paul Decker, Lewis K. Parmenter. John Rowe, Geo. Hall. Faye Ctislek, Kdith Conrad, Margaret Roland and Louise Rand. reject any and all bids.
