Or., Jan. 15. M. M Kohler, a prominent farmer living near Waldo, and William Henry Uv ell, an aged man from Ttimwater. Wash., who was living with Kohler, were drowned Friday afternoon in the Illinois river, in this county. The news came to Giants Pass to day, when a teamster arrived here to purchase coffins for the victims. Hold er owned a crude bridge over the Illi nois river, and the two men were standing on tills structure attempting to guide driftwood and prevent It from injuring the bridge, when the struc ture was suddenly carried away. Kohlcr's body was found four miles below, minus a pair of gum boots he had worn, and Lovell's hotly was found six miles below entirely nude, the clothing having been stripped off in the raging waters. Around his neck, however, remained intact a string to which a miniature bag was attached which contained $110. 0 RAILROADS. SOUTHERN PACTFIO. Southbound.
