That was about two months ago, and

quarters with a blind squaw, and
that, rather than, associate with her,
she sought out the general room pro

the paramount reason for her desir

that she wanted to avoid associating

EXECOTED
ENGLISHMAN
UNITED TRKSS LEASED WIBE.
San Diego, Cal., June 21 Reports
came from Ensenada today that Pa
trick Glennon. a British subject, was
executed bv the Mexicans at Alamo,
Lower California, two weeks ago.
The belief is expressed here that the
British government will act as soon
as official reports on the matter are
received.
It is reported that Glennon, who
has been at Alamo for some time,
having mining interests there, was
killed at the same time John D. Car
roll and Dr. Foster, two Americans,
were executed.
Alamo Is 80 miles south of Ensen
ada and there is no telegraph con
nection with the place.
It is not believed here that any
regular trial was held at Ensenada,
Acting Consul Sawday reported the
execution of Carroll and Foster to
Washington, and is now on his way
to the capital.

this morning a woman with a camp
stool, a spirit lamp and kettle, a tea
pot, a basket of sandwiches and a
rug camped on the green in St.
James park, in a spot commanding a
fine view of the route over which to
morrow's parade will pass. She was
the pioneer of a host of others who
have since gone to the park. At
midnight the, parks were crowded
with spectators eager to view the
pageanit, even at the cost of camp
ing out all night.
The final rehearsals were hold at
Westminster abbey during the after
noon. Great crowds gathered bout
the historic building, watching the
arrival of the peers and peeresses,
carrying robes and coronets. The
jam was so great that a special detail
of soldiers was called out:

Chicago, June 21. Heavy pur
chases of wheat here yesterday fol
lowed reports from South Dakota that
crop conditions are the worst In the
history of the state.
Three whole counties, Coddington,
Clark and Spink, all large producers,
were represented as being practical
ly a failure for wheat this season.
According to experts, the fields In
general have been badly burned, and
where green streaks are still left the
long-continued hot weather is drying
the plant In the milk.
An advance exceeding 4 cents a
bushel during the last 48 hourB
showed the extent to which specula
tors here had been stirred up. The
September option today soared to
90 cents against 88 cents last
nitht and 86V486 cents at th
preceding close.
Big sales to realize profits hindered
a further advance -and at one time
led to a lively reaction.
The greatest rise today was for the
July delivery; at the apex, the ad
vance showed a bulge of 2 '4 cents
over last night,, reaching 91 cents
flat. Under heavy profit-taking, how
ever, the close was 1 cent below the
top figures of the day.
