fidently predicted here today that the
inter-marriage of whites and Japan
ese will be prohibited in Washington
after the present meeting of the legis
lature. Two measures forbidding
marriages of this character have been
introduced, by Representative Wray,
of King county and the other by
Representative Ghent.
The bills follow as a result.of the
notoriety gained by Seattle following
the marriage between Gunjiro Aoki
and Gladys Emery, daughter of Arch
bishop Deacon Emery, of Corte Ma
dera, California, two years ago. The
couple were married in Washington
because the California law prohibits
such unions.
