Alleging that they have been un
able to get any Information about
the movement of trains, supply of
cars, and that they have been com
pelled to wait for as much as 12
hours at the loading station with
their stock before being able to load
it for shipment, and are otherwise
abused and mistreated, 19 stockmen
and breeders and shippers of stock
at Ontario, Oregon, have lodged a
complaint with the railroad commis
sion, and ask for an investigation of
the service of the Oregon Short Line
railroad.

Tempest In a Teaxt
Henry Mutshler, a prominent
blacksmith of Stayton, was haled In
to Justice Webster's court this morn
ing upon a warrant sworn out by
Paul Fehlen, also a resident of Stay
ton, upon the charge of threatening
to annihilate the whole Fehlen fami
ly, but, upon examinatfm, the court
did not think the' evidence sufficient
to warrant the charge, aud dismissed
the complaint without placing Mr.
Mutshler under bonds to keep the
peace. It developed at the hearing
that the whole trouble arose over the
mlschlevousness of children, and the
only threat that could be substanti
ated that Mr. Mutshler had made
against Mr. Fehlen or any member
of his family was that if Mr. Fehlen
did not take steps to restrain his chil
dren from tormenting Mr. Mutshler's
daughter by calling her "fatty," he,
Mutshler, would not only take It up
on himself not only to- thrash the
Fehlen children, but he would thraKh
Fehlen also. Fehlen did not take
'kindly to a threat of this nature, and
had Mutshler arrested for threaten
ing bodily harm, and wanted him
placed under bonds to keep the
peace.
