A forest fire, which started In the clearing at the Hammond Lumber company's logging camp near Oak Point Sun day, has already caused damage esti mated at $20,000 and is still burn ing. No green timber has yet been burned. A largo force of men is fighting tho flames. Practically all of the company's camp has been destroyed, Including the cook house, two bunk houses, blacksmith shop and two residence houses. Joseph Sjplggnao, a Black Hand agent, today shot and killed John Manzella, a wealthy Sicilian merchant, who re fused a demand for money, and was then himself shot and killed by Manzela's daughter as he attempted to escape. Spiggnao entered Mah zela's store at daylight. Ho demand ed a sum of money, threatening vengeance by the Black Hand socl- oty. Manzela refused and tried to put Spiggnao out of tho store. Tho intruder drew a revolver and shot Manzela through iho heart. Then ho rushed out of the store. As ho reached the sidewalk Manzela's daughter, who had heard the dis pute, ran to the front of the store and shot Spiggnao.
