Thompson, of the Cascade Locks, and chairman of tho committee on trade topics, tho Oregon and Washington Lumber Manufacturers' Association adjourned at 11:30 o'clock this forenoon and left" for an excursion trip to Falls City and Black Rock. Interesting Meeting. Thoro wero about 40 members in attendance at tho meeting this fore noon, and they arrived in tho city over the Oregon Electric some time prior to that set for tho calling of the meeting. Tho committee , on insurance re ported that it understood that there was a movement on foot to bring about a liability law that It would probably bo brought up under tho initiative law this fall, and that It was understood that it was of an ar bitrary .character, but no action was taken In relation to it, savo that it was suggested that it was a subject worthy of consideration, and which should be brought up for further dis cussion at some future meeting. Thompson Rca'ds Paper. After the reports of tho commit tees and the transaction of some general routine business, the associ ation listened to a paper by C. W. Thompson on tho mono-rail. Mr. Thompson brought out tho fact that, while machluory had beon invented and put in uso in all sawmill plants in every department, that tho work of assorting lumbor was still bolng done by hand, but that tho mono-rail was now bolng brought into uso in somo mills, and that it was working with great success. Ho then de scribed tho workings of tho mono rail oloctric carrier, and showed how it was a time-saving as woll as -a monoy-savlng machine. Will Meet Business Men Tonight. After tho meeting tho members visited places of Interest in tho city and then departed on tho 12:25 train for Dallas, Falls City and Black Rock. After visiting tho mills and places of lnteres tat theso towns, places of interest at theso towns, onlng at G o clock, when a lunch will bo servod by the Board of Trade, at Its building, and tho members bo en tertained by tho business mon of the city. Fishermen of Oregon City Piny n Hand Without Reckoning on What the Other Fellow Had With tho view of successfully breaking tho order issued by tho Board of Fish Commissioners against salmon fishing in the Willamette and Clackamas rivers, by making-a test caso of tho matter in tho justice court, where It was folt certain that an acquittal would bo - had, Harry Aunney, who was delegated by tho flshorm,en of Oregon City to violate the order, was indicted yesterday af ternoon by tho grand jury, and will be tried for tho offense by the cir cuit court of that place. Tho order has met with tho oppo sition of practically all of tho fishing companies, and a number of the fish ermen. The former recently testou tho order by taidng an action to the supremo court, which tribunal decid ed In favor of tho Board of Fish Commissioners. After tho decision tho fishermen at Oregon-'City indi cated that they proposed violating tho order, and, looking to that end, held a meeting at that place yes terday at noon. Warden Takes Hand. Master Fish Warden McAllister and his deputies learned of tho move ment, and decided to tako a hand In tho game, and wero present at the meeting. McAllister and his mon, however, turned tho tables on tho fishermen, as, when they arrested Aunnoy for a violation of tho order, instead of tak ing him; beforo tho justice of tho peace, they went beforo tho grand jury, which was in session, and which body, after listening to the evidence submlttod, returned an Indictment against Aunney. The penalty for the offenso Is a fino of not less than $50 and not more than $1000.
