Two Salem real estate firms sold $106,000 worth of property the past year. Election of Officers. Report of nominating committee was read as follows: For president T. B. Kay, For vice-president M. O. Buren. For secretary A. F. Hofer. For treasurer D. J. Fry. For executive committee Jos. H. Albert, R. C. Bishop, F. G. Decka bach, J. R. Linn, W. T. Stolz. The above Blate was chosen by A. Huckesteln, R. C. Bishop, Paul B. Wallace. A. A. liee, W. I. Staley. G. Stolz moved that report be adopted. Mr. Basey opposed adoption, and offered to make a nomination. Mr. Huckesteln and J. H. Albert spoke for the report of tho nominat ing committee. Ho made tho point that adopting this report only placed the names In nomination, that they should be elected by ballot. The report was adopted. Mr. Basey nominated J. A. Mills for sec retary. The election of T. B. Kay for pres. ident was made by accamatlon. The rest of the ticket was elected In simi lar manner, and a ballot on secretary resulted as follows: Hofer 46 Mills 35 Secretary Hofler was declared re elected, and the vote was made unan imous. Mr. McNary made a few graceful remarks in retiring, and Introduced his successor. Hon. T. B. Kay, who was recolvod with great applause. He accepted the position with a keen seuee of appreciation and paid his predecessor a high compliment. He reviewed the conditions of the past, contrasted with the progressive Bplrlt of the present. In three years prop erty value had doublod. Paving streots had added double the cost to the value of property and to rents. What was most noeded was mountain water, and It would do moro to make this a great city. (Groat ap plause). We had tjie reputation of having poor water, and could not gel away from It. Nothing would add so much population or do so much to In sure the future of this city as moun tain water. Next to mountain water we needed a hotel. A syndicate had bought the old Willamette-, had plans drawn and would make it a modern house. There was business for it. and for half a dozen smaller hotels. We also needed more factories, and another railroad or two. By 1912 wo would have 35,000 people nnd in flvo years 50,000, if wo did our part to got first-class water, hotels and factories. (Applause.) He made a strong plea for a mutual pull for a greater Salem. M. O. Buren, as the next officer, returned his thanks for the honor. Ho recommonded moro liberal uso of paint in erecting signs on their buildings, to tell what they are. He plead for standing shoulder to shoulder in all the work of tho board. Mr. Stolz spoke of progress in street Improvement, provisions for more sewers, for bettor parks. He spoke of the need of better parkings along tho street. Ho favored a spe cial committee of ten on civic im provements. Dr. Epply made a plea for more adequate quarters for tho Board of Trade. There should be a social cen ter whero business men could meet at lunch. Charles Dick tried to get J. R. Linn on his feet, and to his chagrin failed to get a rise for a speech from that direction. Tho board adjourned after one of the most interesting profitable meet ings in its history. -FREE SENT TO DEMONSTRATE THE MERITS OP PYRAMID PILE CURE. What It Has Dono for Others, It Can Do for You. Street City and State -o- The watched cook sometimes gets boiling mad, o : The old fashioned way of dosing a weak stomach, or stimulating the Heart or Kidneys Is all wrong. Dr. Shoop first pointed out this error. This is why his prescription Dr. Shoop's Restorative is directed en- irely to the cause of these ailments tho weak inside or controlling nerves. It isn't so difficult, says Dr. Shoop, to strengthen a weak Stomach, Heart or kidneys, if one goes at it correct ly. Each inside organ has its con trolling or inside nerve. When these nerves fall, then those organs must surely falter. These vital truths are leading druggists evorywhoro to dis pense and recommend Dr. Shoop's Restorative. Test it a few days ana see! Improvement will promptly and surely follow. Sold by Capital Drug Store. Try a Journal Classified Want Ad. Pneumonia. "In treating pneumonia," says Dr. W. J.
