Elworthy Mistaken? Editor Statesman: At the recent election, those who have tho bills to pay voted not to bond the city to buy a park. Tho city charter provides that no one but a taxpayer of tho city can voto at such an election. Because a few non-taxpayers worj oxciuded In ouo ward, Interested parties are clamoring to put the city to tho ex ponse of another election, calling on t'io constitution of tho Unite 1 States to overthrow the city charter. Everything so far printed on this bubjoct has urged the purchaso ot this park. It Is time somo of the nets woro known about this proper ty It would nccm there has been an attempt to gougu the. city. Why Bhould tho city, any moro than an Individual, pay moro than property is worth? A large portion of tho proposed park Is a hillside, r.lniost a proclplco, it can not bo used and has small real value.
