( WKcc wiTnren t MERRY END OF CHERRY FAIR The third annual Cherry Fair Is now a matter of past history a proud and Important bit of. history it Is. Salem has once more sus tained her reputation as the Cherry City of the world, and every citizen within her borders ha3 reason to feci Justly proud. The 1908 fair was a success from start to finish. More cherries and better ones wero shown than ever before. More time, money and labor woro spent upon the celebra tion than in any previous yoar, and nevor before have the results bo Justified the" work of preparing, for Salem's great annual event extra ordinary. ' The last day of the fair surpassed both the other days in tho number of people and in enthusiasm. All day tho streets wero crowded with visitors to tho Chorry City, and from early morning until midnight the cherry pavilion was thronged with admiring spectators, among whom wero numbered horticultural ists of national reputation from every section of the country. Every authority, no matter whero ho hailed from, was of tho samo opinion; that Salem Is without a rival in the chorry .producing world, and that such an exhibition of tho luclous fruit as was displayed horo during tho thrco days of last week would bo an utter Impossibility In any city outside tho Wlllnmotto valley. Nor should tho sldo Usuos in the great celebration bo forgotten. It was tho Idea of tho commlttco from the first that tho Talr this year should be lacking In nothing which would tend to enliven tho lntorost of tho visitors and of tho Salem peo ple also, nnd furnish wholesomo nmusoment for them during every minute of tho regln of King Blng. To that end there was added to tlw 1908 fnlr one of tho bo3t carnivals ithnt has over been hold In tho Chev ry City. Besides going to tho ox penso of engaging a professional carnival company, tho amusement committee worked night and day for threo weeks proparlng tho local mlrth-produclng features of tho carnival. That they woro success ful to a dogrco far exceeding the genoral expectation, Is tho verdict of everyone. Tho comic parado of Saturday ov onlng reflects grcnt credit upon Cook Patton and his faithful co-workers. It was without oxcoptlon tho best thing of Its kind that tho sight seers at a local celebration have yet witnessed. Thero Is no nced to describe In detail tho final parado of tho car nhnl. Evory foaturo was a gem, and waB enjoyed to. tho utmost by, the "Jiousand that lined tho Btree'ts. The Chlnoso with their tliroo float carried off tho prize offorod by tho commltteo for tho best attraction In the procession. Tho Japanese wero cloio Eeconds, and It Is only to bo regretted that n dozen irioro prizes ciii'd not have boon glvon for tho fir,ir; "4ffJ Ai to IF Kt 3 ALCOHOL 3 PEK GENT AYcgelaftepftrallonlflrAj slrailaitogiiKFtodMdlWuai ling lite Stoaadtt wiDow-kcf ProrootesDigesHonWfrfy- ncss awl HM.contaLoi vem Opium .Morphine norMBcraL 1 - .. The multitudes left feeling that tho 1908 fair wna an event which they could by no means have afforded to miss, and wishing God' speed to tho Cheiry City of the world, and success to tho cele bration In 1909. Over Thirty-five Year. In 1872 there was a great deal of diarrhoea, dysentery and cholera In fantum It was at this time that Chamberlain's colic, Cholera and Dl arrohea Remedy was first brought In to use. It proved more successful than any other remedy or treatment, and has for thirty-five years main tained that record. From a small beginning Its salo and use lias ex tended to overy part of the United Stato and to many foreign countries.
