Tread well says tke senator reorgan ised thi rompany and froaa him out completely The caso of tho State of Oregon against Carey F, Martin, a prominent, and popular young attorney of thll city, was called for a Jury trial a 9 o'clock this morning in Judgo Har nett's court. Mr. Mnrtin was indicted at the last tortn of court on a chargo of having procured T. J. Luper to swear false ly to certain pleadings boforo him, in which Martin appeared for Lupor, in a suit for dlvorco against Mm. Luper, Lupor was convictod of perjury in the tamo case, having sworn to a yoar's deiortlon on tho part of Mrs Luper, whan ho had own living with her but rocently. Tho case against Lupor was contented by the nbloet counsel in this city, and wero twlco reversed In the supreme court ou technicalities, and would have been carried there again, but Luper wo 3 unable to get ball and has been lying In the county Jail, although he Is a man who Is well llkod and has always held a responsible position mndor the Southern Pnelilo railroad. Mr. Mnrtin is handling his own case, and appears by his counsel, William Holme, of this elty. and M. L. I'ipOH, one of the ben lnwyors of the city of Portland.
