growers In .this section aro. between
tho 'devil and tho deep sea this "year,
as far as prices for tholr hops go,
for there are no prices, and tho grow
ors havo no means of knowing whon
a prlco will be made, or what It will
bo. In tho Aurora, Buttovllle and
Hubbard districts the hop crop Is as
largo, If not larger, than last year.
Tho yield Is so heavy In many yards,
that tho hops aro breaking down tho
wires and pulling down tho posts.
Tho big bulk of tho crop will grado
good, but with all theso favorably
conditions thero aro many growers
who say they will not pick a. pound
of hops until thoy soo a prlco In
Bight that will Insure their coming
out even on the crop, and It tho prlco
docs not warrant their picking they
will plow up their ynrds and go In
to aomo other brnrich of agriculture.
About 90 por cent of the growors
who havo decided to pick will pick
by weight Instead of box measure,
as In former years. Nearly overy
grower is In fnvor of tho weight ays
torn, but In tho past hnvo had to bo
governed by tho wishes of tho pick
ers, but this year tho growers think
thoy can force tho pickers to tho
weight system, and aro going to uso
it. Tho growors havo had no diffi
culty In securing all tho pickers thoy
need. Many of tho plckors havo
worked In tho Bnmo yards for years,
and tho growors dopend upon them
each year. Picking will begin In
aomo of tho early ynrds th 26th, but
will not becomo general boforo Sep
tember 2d. Some yard will not be
