Mr. Smith Is finishing one of the largest sawmill plants in the state, which will bo able to cut 250, 000 feet of lumber In ten hours. Ho has timber sufficient to last him 200 years to come. Tho steamer "Plant" from San Francisco came In well loaded. Un loaded part of Its cargo, and went on. Tho "Breakwater" came In hoavlly loaded from Portland, and went out loaded. Thero Is new business, nnd lots of new residences In course of construction, and prop erty Is selling at big prices. Eventu ally North Bend and Marshfleld will be ono town, with street cars nlong the river front. Farm lands range In price from $100 to $300 per acre; hill land from $10 to $100 per acre. Prices on products of all kinds are high, nnd labor from $2 to $5 a day. Everybody Is busy and all seem to have plenty of money, nnd are ap parently happy.
