Already some of the papers of East

high Miter In the Columbia, next sum

snows. They point out that in 1604
there was a tremendous snow fail, not
only in the country drained by the Co
lumbia, but alee Is that drained by the
Snake. As a matter of fast no one,

waters of both rivers, but the high

the Snake keada a thousand miles south
of the Columbia. It's Hood period Is
earlier, and generally It begins to fall
as the Columbia rises. Itoth streams
must rise together, or no flood In tho
lower or middle river. That Is what

ward, and whea it did turn warm
