That's the logic of the ostrich which hides its head and exposes its body to the hunter. There are not a few people who seem to have gone to the ostrich to learn logic. The most dangerous enemies of humanity are the enemies which can't be seen, the disease breeding microbes which infect the blood. It is harder to get the microbe out of the blood than to keep It out, but Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical Discovery does both, by puri fying the blood and then keeping it pure. If there arc eruptions on the skin, boils, pim ples, sores or othei aicrn. rt Imrmr 'hk blood, use Doctoi rierce's Golden Medical Discov ery, which will DUtifv the blood " . ." and curt- Hit eruptions which come from it. " My blood ws all out oCorder, and I had to go to the doctor," writes Mrs. James R, Moss, New Loudoa. Stanly Co.. N.C. "He care me medl dne which helped roe for a short time In the winter of 189s I jot worse than I had ever been. My tonsils were enlarged and my neck swollen all out of shape; my throat was sore and t could not cure It, My husband went for the doctor, but he Rive me uo encouragement. He helped me a little, but It did not last loos-, He attended me for twelve months, when I heard of a lady whose condition was like mine, who was taking your medicine and was settlnr well. So 1 se cured some of the medicine ana began taking it. In one week I was able to do my cooking. When I began taking the medicine I could sit up only a few minutes at a time, and I could rest or sleep only a little while at a time. My throat was so sore at times I could not even swallow sweet milk, and my tonsils were full of little eating sores. My led side waa swollen out of shape and I could hardly get ray breath. The doctor said I would not get well, but three bottles of Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical Discovery, three bottles or his ' Pellets.' three bottles of Dr. Sage's Catarrh Remedy and the use of salt water did tie work and cured rae " Dr. Pierce's Pleasant Pellets cure coa stipation and its consequence. week at 7:30 p. m. Haaacf, Prop. m '.-1-1-:-sVf mm m GERMAN EMPRESS OLDER Than She Was this Time a Year Ago Berlin, Oct. 22. Tho Empress Au gusta Victoria was 46 years old today. Owing to tho recent death of King George of Saxony, for whom tho court Is In mourning, tho anniversary was allowed to pass without festivi ties, though flags were displayed on all public and many private buildings in the capital. Her majesty was like wise tho recipient of nuraorous pres ents nnd congratulatlory messagoi from tho various courts of Europe. Though her domestic cares have been considerably lightened during the last few years by tho growing up of her children, her majesty continues to devote almost her ontlro time and attention to her family and home Her homo life is thus described by a writer In a recent periedical: At 10 o'clock the empress receives hor housekeeper and attends to the luncheon and dinner menus, always Including one or two favorlto dlshos of her husband. A fow momonts every morning are spent In th lluuu room and not a sheot' or a duster is given out oxcept under hor direction. At 11 she goes riding with tho em peror or walking with two of hor boys. Luncheon comes at 1, and tho ontlro family aro present at tho meal, which Is conducted without much ceremony. After luncheon tho em peror and empress devote an hour or more to tho youngor children. Tho empress receives from 3 to 6, and tho dinner hour Is from 6 to 7, as many as fifty guests being Invited some times. Besido each dish It a menu In German, no foreign dish being al lowed on tho tnblo, ovory detail being closely watched by tho Imporlnl host ess. Like other womon, tho eraprois has soveral hobbles. She methodi cally keeps a diary, which no ono sees, each volumo being locked away In her Jewol safe at tho ond of the year. 1-0 POST OFFICE LITTER General complaint has been made about people throwing wasto paper around tho postoffico building and grounds. It Is the result of thought lessness on tho part of patrons of tho offico, but causes tho grounds and sldowalk to bo littered with paper wrapper and other unsightly nui sances. The janitor at the oatomco has a hard time to keep tho approaches to the building In rosectablo condition and It Is due him, as well as tho gen eral appearance of tho city, to oh servo a little caro In those matters. If peoplo tear open papers they should at Ioast throw tho wrappers and other llrtor in wasto baskets and not cast thorn upon tho floor or ground to bo come eyesores and trash. "Rev." Pratt Played Football. George T. Pratt, theological stu dont Iu the Auburn theological "culi nary, Is captain of a football team of Btudonts. In a recent gamo his team dofeatod tho Auburn high school olovon, 80 to 0. Pratt played right half-back. Ouo of tho features of the game was a SC-yard run by him. and the local paper commended him fur his line bucking. He also inado one of tho touchdowns. Ills picture Is given as a part of tho proceedings Albany Domoorat. (Pratt Is also well known In Salem having relation and many friends In this oity.j Sure Cure for Piles.
