"I have nothing to take back. I havo nothing to withdraw of tho things that I have said against the methods pursued to advance his (Parker's) candidacy. It was plain and deliber ate attempt to decelvo the partly. Tho Now York platform was vague and meaningless, and purposely so, be cause the advocates of Judgo Parker wero trying to secure votes from among tho peoplo who would have op posed his views had' they known them If he had sent to tho Albany convention tho telegram that ho sent to the St. louls convention ho would havo had very few Instructed dele gates from tho south, and no possible chance for tho nomination. But he and his managers adrolUy and pur posoly concealed his position until tho dolegates had been corralled and fjtio nomination assured. Then his friends attempted to secure a gold plank, which was overwhelmingly de feated Jn tho committee. Aftor the party had rejoiced over tho harmony secured by the omission of tho ques tion, and after ho had secured tho nomination, ho Injected his views up on tho subject at a time when he could not bo taken from, tho ticket without great demoralization.
