The Sheriff Picked Him Up.
An information was yesterday filed
by District Attorney "Hart, charging
E. C. Parsons, until recently an em
ploye of tho insane asylum, with
steallnc sunnlles from the state. As
' Pnrsons was not under arrest, a bench
j warrant was Issued by Judge Burnett,
(nnd placed In tho hands of Deputy
(Sheriff Sklpton. Sheriff Colbath was
iln Portland last evening, and, being
I notified of the existenco of the bench
warrant, kopt his eyes open, and at
the Union depot, In Portland, ran on
to his man, who, armed with a heavy
grip, was awaiting the doparturo of
the Northern Pacific train. Mr. Col
bath promptly - arrested him, nnd
checked him over the Southorn Pacific
i to Salem. When tho sheriff arrived
here with his man, court not bolng in
session, the prlsonor was placed in
tho county Jail, and thero he will re
main until he appears In court to
morrow. i n
Brought to the Asylum.
Alvln Eastman, nged 21 years, re
siding at North Yamhill, was today
brought to tho Insane asylum by .T. W.
Henry nnd Frank. Gaunt, of McMlnn
ville. The young roan Is suicidal in
his tendencies, and seems to be Insane
on the subject of religion.
