This conclusion was further strengthened In tho (lis covory that a small sum of money had also disappeared. Surely ft must have been the work of robbors. Police of floors wero notified and a vigilant watch kept that tho guilty partlor might bo apprehended. But there woro no furthor developments and the Inaldant had boon forgotton, except by members of the family until ono night last week, when tho family at tended a social function at the homo of n neighbor, when three of tho per petrators could not longer keep the secret, mid a coufossion was made. Three young women, particular friends of the family, called at tho homo on the evening the supposed burglary was commlttod to make n call. Finding the family absent, tho callers decided to play a joke, and sinco a number of alleged hold-ups and robborlos wore being reported at the time, they concluded to enter .the building, and glvo tho npartmcuts the appearance of having boon visited by real burglars. So thorough was the task porformed that whon tho perpe trators of tho joko admitted thoir guilt, the members of tho family would not accept tho confession, thinking the young women wero lasting. This fact and an examination of the record of tho pollco court discredits reports of any great nurnbor of burglaries and hold-ups In this city.
