Wood, grand commander of the Indian War Veterans, nnd the father of the pension bill Just passed by con gross, is deluged by letters dally from old Indian fighters from all over Oie gon and Washington, says an ex change. They want to he enrolled on Uncle Sam's pay list, at the prevail ing rate of $8 por month. Mr. Wood Hnys that out of 50 letters received dally, from eight to ton nro from per sons who draw pension monej. In Oregon and Washington there are probably 1000 persons eligible for the pension list. The widows of the pensioners nre entitled to receive tho full share, but at their deaths the al lowance does not descend to their heirs. The government will not pay any hack money.
