Tho unusual activity and low prices which are being made by tho Califor nia packers has caused an unusual early Inquiry for tho Oregon product, and packers havo been urged for some tlmo past to name a price at which tho 1902 crop may bo sold for October and November shipment, but the prlco nt which tho California product Is bolng sold does not offor much encourage ment to tho Orogon growers who havo been looking forward to big prices, because of tho light Oregon crop, nnd It is doubtful If there will bo any great haste to make contracts at this time.
