Tho past wook has been dry; IU first few days woro unseasonably cool and light frosts occurrml in many sec tions of tho stato. Tho frosts did no harm to tho staplo crops, but some tender garden truck was slightly, in Jured by them. During the middle of the week It wns unseasonably warm, especially in tho western half of the stato, and Uio soil dried out rapidly. Correspondents generally report thnt while the crops havo made rapid advancement, and have not yet been Injured by the drouth, more rain Is needed, and the indications are that the showers In the Willamette valley. which begun Monday, (after most of the correspondents had mailed their reports,) will spread to the eastern sections of the state by Tuesday, and be of great benefit to spring grain ami all late crops. The maximum, or day temperature during the week In Western Oregon ranged between 08 and SS degrees, and the minimum, or night temperature. between lx and 70 degrees. In Hast em Oregon the maximum tempera lures ranged between SS and 88 de grees, and the minimum temperature between 3G and 70 degrees, nnd the week, as a whole, while the wnrmeet one of the season, was not witUclently hot to Injire wheat Fall wheat continues fllllug nicely, and the bulk of the crop Is how too far advanced to be injured by hut winds.
