woeks ago ho applied to County Judgo
Scott for work, but the county could
glvo him no employment, Pepper
seamed teal anxious to do work of
some kind, and expressed a desire to
do farm work, If he could not find
anything else, being determined to
work nt something. He was directed
to Sllvertou, where he found employ
ment on a faim, only to he taken down
with a fever, when the attention of thu
comity otlleials was culled, and ho
was i amoved to the hospital. Ques
tioned concerning his home and his
parents, Poppor showed great reti
cence, uiul Judge Scott thinks the lad,
who Is only 10 years of age, ran away
from home. Tho boy tlnully informed
the hospital management that his
fnthur, George Pepper, was n captain
In charge of a vessel, and that hi ad
dress was Yorkshire, Ktigland. County
Judge Scott has wiltten the boy's pa
runts, notifying them of their prodigal
son, and of his condition, which Is not
serious. Young Pepper says his pa
rents are comfortably situated, nnd are
able to provide for him.
