Sunday Afternoon.
Organized labor in Salem received
a strong Impotus Sunday, as tho result
of an enthusiastic conferenco of wage-
earners, hold in Popular Hall. Tho re
sult of tho meeting was tho organiza
tion of a local branch of the American
Pederatlon of Labor. C. C. Worrick
served as chairman of tho meeting.
Tho ofllcors are: President, W. E.
Miller, a cigar maker; secretary, A. N.
Dalrymple, nowspapor man; treasurer,
T. J. Clark, a fruit grower. Tho ap
plication for n charter was signed by
tho following persons, representing
the various trades: G. P. Sherwood,
H. S. Drake, I). 13. Miller, W. L.
Davis, A. Uonson, James It. Mils
graw, II. A. Dougliorty, J. S. Uenson,

organization. Now that tho spirit of
