Tho Merchant's Association of Han Joso, Cal., has put Itself on record to protoct Its members from Itinerant advertising solicitors and subscrip tion advortlsemonts for programs, booklets and suah liko schomos by pledging thomsolvoe to abide by tho action of a commlttoo appointed some weeks ago to first pass upon the mer its of all such propositions. Like the merchants of other clUea the merchant of San Jose are wrest ling with the question of what is known as snap advertising, to use an every day parlance. Hardly a day passes but business men are called upon by a half dozen solicitors for ad vertising for small papers, school pub lications programs for anything and everything under the sun from a charity bazaar to a fraternal benefit. Theso calls have been increasing to Buoh an extent as to hooome a ser ious problem among merchants. They declared that It was Impossible to patronize all tho propositions sub mitted, and If any preference was shown it was suro to bring on the head of the merohant the comUIned attack and persuasive recrimination of the remainder.
