According to tho average, the Salem school should receivo about twonty-llvo bodies per year. The dissecting rooms of this rchool aro located near South Mill crucek near Willamette University. Tho student a aro supposed to know nothing whatever of whore the bodies aro from, their llrtt knowlodgo of thorn being when they aru found on tho dissecting tables. Tho bodies are llrst injected nilh an arsonio preparation through the Jujulur vein In the nock, in order to longer pro serve them. A thin mixture of plaster of parts Is then iujoctod into the caiotld artery. This traces the blood voesels. Although tho blood is stagnant tho pias ter is carrlod directly to the heart, which causes a natural contraction and forces tho plaster discolored with blood all over tho body. From tho plaster being color ed by the blood, tho veins, arteries, and even tho finest capillaries can bo traced perfectly as long as the body lasts. This is from threo to six weeks, as the result of the special arsenic Injection, Aftor these preliminaries tho bodies aro divided into tlvo parts, and dis posed of to those students. The bodies aro secured through the dean of the school and each sludont buys the part ho wlshos to study. When tho bodies aro thoroughly dis sected, thoy nro taken in charge by thoco who delivered thorn to tho dissecting room, and receivo tho samo burial that thoy would havo secured had thoy not been used aa subjocts at tho school. For omo reason the faculty failed to locure any subjects for the students for u period of several weeks ami the studeuts attempt to arrange for purchasing bodies for themselves. One of the most promi nent professional men of tho city was walking past the school and readily de tected a peculiar odor was located thoro.
