There la trouble between tho partners of tho firm of Wright & Durant of Woodburn. They have been conducting a general business, dealing with lumber, oils, paints, building materials, etc., for almost one year and now one of tho firm iaasklog that a receiver bo appoin ted for the business. The men are L. W. Dutant Bnd E. II. Wright, the former beinte the plaintiff in tho tuit recently filed in tho circuit court. Each shared eynally in the cnterprlho, mittltiB 11428 anieco Into tho business. I Durant ia a mechanic and worked with that part of the business and Wrignt sold goods and kept tho books. Durant alleges that since they h ivo bleu conducting tho store there together ha haa drawn out $109 95 for his own U8e and Wright has received $130 accord ing to the books. Out this he claims is not correct, and he states that Wright has collected about 1700 belonging to tho firm which ho has not accounted for, and for which amounts he has mado false en tries on tho firm's books. Durant claims to have known of thete actions being committed, and has aaked Wright to settle up tho business and to reimburse the firm for what he haa fraudulently received. This request hae been refused, and as he can otherwise get no settlement of the affair, he haa applied to tho court. De clines have succeeded eacho'her in such quick succession that tho Coast trade is wondering where It is at. The derangement in prices is tho re sult of a war among refiners. It began January 1 In a dispute betweon Ban Francisco jobbers, presumably insti gated by the interests of the Western Sugar Ifefinery. All attempts to patch up a truce have been futilo. Not long ago an attempt was made by the allied Jobbing interests of the Coast, which as sembled at San Fancisco. The jobblnglprico to tho retail trade in tho local market la 4.35 per hundred for cano granulated. Heet sugar Is 10 cents less. Tho refiners' prlco at San Francisco Is $f.2o" per hundred, Local jobbers, therefore, aro selling at a loss, (oritcost at least 12) cents per hun dred froight and cartage, to bring sugar hero from California. Tho actual freight charge is 11 cents. This last reduction is anothor hard jolt to retailers who thought they were sly when they bought direct from tho warring jobbers of San Francisco. They paid about $4.55 at be Hay City, and since then the price has dropped 30 cents. Beetsugar interests are also bard hit. Gift of a Liverpool Shipowner. Liverpool, March 7.
