Schultz, altor considering the bids several days, awarded itto John McChesney, tho well known contractor, and tho papora wero signed. Tho con tractor has until July 1 to completo tho structure. Work on tho building will begin at onco and no time will bo lost in finishing it. Tho building is designed by Chas. H. Burgraf, tho architect, and is a model of neatness. The stugo is 30x50, with a a height of 45 feet, giving ample room for tho best productions. Tho pit will bavo a capacity of 400 and will be seated with Bteol frame opera chairs, a commodious and convenient gallery with ample eleva tion will scat about as many moro. On each Bldo of tho stugo ncnt and tasty private boxes for parties will odd materially to the beauty of tho Interior Tho lower floor will have sufficient elevation to mako every seat desirable. Tho latest and best scenery will bo placed on thoatago, and when completed Albany will havo one of the best opera houses on tho coast. It will cost about $5500. Although tho contract prico is only $11050, yot the furniture, fixtures, heating, plumbing and stage fittings will swell the cost to the greater sum. This city has been sorely in need ol an opera house for pev- ernl years, and at last through ho un tiring work of Messrs. Burggraf and Schultz it will soon have one.
