from the county jail, tho charge of em
bexzlement against him being dismissed
by Judge Judah at 10 o'clock this fore
noon. Tho'trial has bften warmly contested
and Is a victory for Mr. Lucas and his
counao't Ford anil Kaiser.

At 10 o'clock this morning Olty Re
corder Judah reconvened his justice's
court, for tho purpose of disposing of the
Lucas embezzlement case. The state
was represented by Deputy Dltrict At
toinoy McN'nry, and Hih defendant, Li
caa. in person and by Mr. Ford as coun
sel Beforii giving his decision, Mr. Ju
dah stated in explicit terms that tho

tho case and at 11:15 on the moruiiiK of
tlio II th Judge Clelaud charged the
jury who relumed a verdict of guilt y in
ten minutes. Th trial of Jack Wade
was ordered for the following day,
Thursday. The trial of tho case occu
pied but two hours, during which time
Wade made a statement that ho was
willing to atone witli his own life for
hisorime. Ho was found guilty of mur
der by Judge Frazier and taken from
court. On December 21th they were
sentenced to be hanged.
Wade's Confession.
On Thursday, January 17th, Wade
made the following coufeesien:

to see Dalton punished, too, because he
