Tho suggestion that tho county clerk performs tlinso duties in tiiu absence of tho judge meets with n few objections, inasmuch as that ofllclal upon somo oc casions acts in conjunction with tho judgo, as in the board of equalization, nnd for this reason it is believed that that tho Horvicos of a circuit Jiulga should borequlrod for the work. There is nleo nn objection to that, inasmuch as a circuit Judge serves for a numburof counties, and in somo instances unibr such circumstances ho would not bo sorvtng for his own or homo county.
