Paul's by tho way. Tho Thames looked beautiful at night and it is beautiful and so picturcsquo in tho day time, too, Tho Vtholo of Loudon and everything In it id picturesque. I really was so surprised. I belloo I like it better than I will Hollaud. As Boon as wo reached our hotel wo wero assigned our rooms, two in a room, and then we wont down to a flno bIx coursa dinner. Cook's nronll right; they treat us splendidly. Wo started off in two Immense couch es tills morning at nine o'clock mil mercy how can I toll you nil wo saw? I can't, that Is all. We nit got out at the Prison Tower and went through it won derful, wonderful things wo saw thoro, and the Queen's crown, too, beyond prico. We saw line houses nml histori cal buildings by tho score. Every street is more than Interesting. Wo got out noxt nt St. Paul's Cathed ral wonderful, beautiful, and so old tombs and wonderful things down in tho crypt. Wo then drovo to tho National Art Gallery and It was student's day uiul looked almost like an urt school, there wero so many there copying, " Tlio paintings are grnnd. Next wo visited tho museum, tho greatest In tho world. Many places they allowed only n few persons at a time In u room because the things were so valuable had to bo watched constantly by guards although they woro all in cases, nml sometimes behind iron bars. Hut what impressed me there most of nil was tho King's Library I've forgotten what klng, but alter his death his son present' ed tho library to the nation nml wo saw tho presentation letter. There are thou sands and thousands of books, many of them one and n half and two feet high. Thoy are till tinder glass and form the walls of room niter room about eighty feet high. I never could understand till I saw that library how books could bo lost, taking years to Und thorn and some times never found, as thoy are at the Vatican iu Home. That samoduy we drovo past tho Old Curiosity Bhop, The street was Just wide enough for us to drive through, mid I drew my hand along the building us wo passed. The noxt morning early (You see I am writing this now In Paris waiting for a room) our same party started out. Wo first drove along the Thames till the Tate Art Gallery opened at ten o'clock. It Is an art gallery of modern paintings and it was surii a treat to see thorn. When I left there I could naraiy see anything, my eyos wero so used up, From tho gallery ye drove to Westminister Abbey, that grand old cathedral, with tho mngnillent houses ol parllment In the same inclob uro. We could not go through tho Par llamout buildings but went all over Westminister. Tho oldest tomb there dated back to OKI A. I), It was go Inter esting to tee those old tombs of the kings and queens wo have studied about, and the guide told us about them as wo went along. A great many of them had a marble image of themselves lying on top of the tomb. There was the sweet face of Mary Queen of Scots aud near her the stonier features of her cousin Queen KlUaboth of England, who had Mary executed, In one in stance, two kings were buried side by side; the llrst king's tomb was robbed by the second king during tho latter's life time. That Is, the adornments of tho tomb were Bold for an Immense sum, leaving It almost bare, as it stands now, aud now the second king's tomb Is adorned as tho llrst one' was. It seems strauge that they should lie side by Bide. The day we were in Tower Prison wo saw where tho two princes were smothered, and tho stairway under which their bones were burled, They wero afterward removed to West minster and we saw tho monument there above them. The last person bur led there was Mrs, Gladstone -about two weeks ago, and we walked over her and Mr. Gladstone's tomb in tho floor of tho main part ol tho church. Tho tomb) are all lull; no moro kings or queens will ever be buried there; but there area fow tombs waiting for another member or two ol a fow families thoro. Tho last king buried thoro was King Charles Second. Tho chimes tolled several times while vro wero lnlclo, aud a scrvico hadbcgtin before wo left. Sov eral corners ot the building are filled with llfe-8.7.o statues of noted mon and women. r We just reached tho hotel that eve ning in tlmo to pack and eat supper, and then went to tho train ono half hour heforo thno, to see about luggngo. Wo traveled about threo hours on tho train, then took the boat and crossed tho chan nel in four hours, Tho pea wns choppy and n good many woro sick. I saved myself by lying perfectly still. Wo landed In Franco about 5 o'clock this morning, and took over three hours to como to Paris. Got our rooms assigned linro ot Cook's, right at tho exposition grounds, and went sight-seeing this afternoon. Today wo wero out nt Versailles and wont nil through tho grand pnlnco there about ono thousand rooms, it seemed to mo, and a long drive. Thousands of people are out there ovory day. There wero about twelve cnrrlngo loads of Cook's people thlriy-six inour carriage, six horses, Our flrst-clnes dining room seats over ono thousand persons nt once, nnd thoro is 11 second nnd third claes room just as lnrgo, I think.
