HIDING RAILROAD TRACKS WITH A COM M0N BICYCLE An Invention that May Revolutionize Travel Railroad Trains Outrun Dy Ordi nary Wheelmen. Sachamhnto, Aug. iy. Railroad Do tcctivo William Ahem has in his oflico nt tho depot a contrivance which would bo of great intorest to tho cranks of the tho whoel tho mon who hnvo tho bl- cyclo habit on tho brain. With this simple affair it is easy for a wheelman to rido his ordinary hlko over any standard gunge railroad track and mako a passen ger train nppcnr llko an ico wagon, so fnrns spcod is concerned. Tho inventor of tho affair is a young man tnamed J. L. Robinson. Ho evidently took pat tern after tho ordinary railroad bicycle, which tho track inspectors rido, and which is a heavy and cumbersome piece of machinery, lacking both graco and Bpecd. Robinson lias improved his pat tern and has an affair which runs an or dinary bicycle over tho rails llko tho wind. There is nn outrigger which rests on a mil opposite tho bicycle. It has a wheel which is nbontono foot in diamo tor, ball-bearing In its movoment, hav ing a rubber tiro, and it is kept on tho track by means of two flangs, which nro about ono inch in depth. The (outrigger supports nro of light wood and the wholo apparatus docs not, perhaps, woigh more than 16 pounds. Reports had coino into tho oflico of Superintendent Wright that some man was using the company's tracks in this section of tho Stnto without any au thority of tho railroad ofllcials. Sta tion agonts, suction foreman and othor railroad employes woro instruted to bo on tho outlook for tho whcolmnn and Btop him whenovor ho put in nn np- pcaranco. On Tuesday Inst tho wheel- man; camo siiiliug down tho railroad track from n business trip which lia hail mndo into Tchntna county. As lie neared tho little town of Rosevillo tho section forcmnn spied him nnd stopped him. Ho took part of tho apparatus nnd tlion telegraphed tho news of his capture to Alieru. Tho railroad ollicor took tho next train to Rosovllle, whuro ho confiscated tho bicycle attachment and then brought it back to tills city. Robinson, of course, "made n roar" nt tho snmo time threatening nil kinds of punishment for Ahem. Ho has given Ahern until next Monday to return his property. Tho railroad men nro in n sort of quandary as to what kind of punishment they can nieto out to tho brilliant inventor. Ho bus been riding over tho company's linos without per mission nnd without paying anything for tho privilege Ho told Ahern that ho was willing to pay n certain price for tho privilege of riding over the Hues in this Ktato. He Bays that ho lias his mnchlno patented nnd thnt it will only bo n question of n short timo when wheelmen nil over tho United States will bo running their machines on nil tho railroad tracks. RoblnBon 1b employed in a local olec trical establishment and mnkes frequent trips into thocountry in tho performance of his duties, always riding his patented machine. Ho toldOfllcor Ahern that ho recently rodo his mnchlno from Colo rado to tlio Needles in this Stnto. Contagious Blood Poison There is no poison so Highly contagious, oo deceptive aud so destructive.
