Tho Second recital given by Miss S!tcl ton's pupils at tho First Congregational church parlors Saturday evening was most interesting, tho greater part of tho time was occupied by her younger pu pils. Littlo Miss Blanch Knox rendition of "A Dance in tho Nursery, was very ne- curalo and pleasing, as was also tho waltz from Mozart by Miss Jennlo Fry. "Our Littlo Puss' Miss Mamie Pigler, was well deserving of tho applause re ceived. Miss Pansy SwcoUcr brought out tho song iu tho "Alplno Shepherds Song" with splendid effect and Harlequin March was played in oxcellont style and rhym by Miss Clara Jones. Those llvo young ladles certainly havo a bright musical future beforo them having received such thorough instrucc tiou at tho beginning. Theso farther advanced also brought honor to themselves and instructor. Tho opening selection, a duet by Miss Jessio Wann, and Krmlno Bushnell was highly enjoyed by all, also Raffs Taren tello by Nina Bushnell And Anna Pigler whoso playing always speaks well for Miss Shelton's work and their own abil- Hy. Miss Ilnlliu Watson rendered Gold beccks' Valee do concert tit nn artistic and brilliant manner Miss Lena Clark gavo two beautiful selections showing great advancement in her work, and Miss Nellie Stantisli ployed n dllllcult selection in a very cred itable manner. The quartette work also was well worthy of mention and tho selections played by both classes woro favorably received. SUlier Thrown from Ills wheel ty Col lision With a Meat Cart. This morning Wm Staiger, proprietor o( tho Salem marble, works, was slightly injured about the head by being run oor by Fred Slttkus, driver of a meat cart. It appears that Mr. Staiger was wheel ing up Commercial street at a low rato of speed. Slttkus was driving in tho samo direction, but was busy talking to a man who was also driving In tho samo direction, when suddenly Slttkus turned his horeu and cart, striking Mr. Stalgor's wheel and knocking that gentleman down. In tho fall Mr. Staiger was cut about the head, and ono of his ears was slightly cut. Mr. Staiger went to tho ollico ot a physician, whero tho wound was properly dressed, and nlthough a littlo sore, he Is able to be around. Tho butcher lwys of this city are very care less about their driving, often letting their horses go at n lively gait down tho street, and do not hne them under con. trol. Marlon Howard, oged 17 years, was arrested yesterday nt Brooks, by Consta ble J. II. Brooks, upon a warrant issued out of Justico O'Donald's court, whoro in Maggio Ramp, of Brooks, charges Howard with an assault with a danger ous weapon. Constable Lew is brought tho youth to this city last night, and this morning he was brought into court and upon tho motion of the district attorney the case was dismissed.
