Tho May .festival of the Willamette
Valley Choral Union, to bo held next
.week In the First M. K. church of this
city, deserves the special notlco and
patronago of all citizen Interested In the
growth of everything that elevatca tho
morals of a city and brings It Into promi
nence as a city of culture.
Tho purpose of this choral union is to
develop tho singing in chorus of tho
masterpieces of music. During the
Halom festival, Wednesday. Thursday
and Friday of next week, will bo sunir
Mendelssohn's oratorio, St. Paul and
Haydn's Creatiou, two massive works
4or toloists and chorus orchestra.
Tho soloist will bo Mrs. Koso Bloch
Itauerof Portland, Bopranoj Miss Lil
lian Koblin of Balem, Contralto; Mr. J.
W. Belcher, of Portland, Tenor; Mr.
Irving M. Ulen of Eugene, Basso. Tho
largo orchestra consists of thu best ob
tainable players from Portland, Eugene,
Corvallis and Balem.
The chorus is made up of members of

Francesco Boley of Salem, will conduct
tho performance of Bt. Paul on Thurs
