On the 2d of January tho Woyer liauser syndidlcato paid tho Northern Pacific (0,500,000-for 1,000,000 acres of timber land in Washington. Tills Is tlio largest deal In timber land that has over been made in tho west. During the past year this syndlcato of lumbermen has Iwught up immense quantities of land in Wleconsln and Minnesota and now has practical con trol of all tho timber in these two states. , The Woyorhausor people are esti mating on another tract oi Northern Pacific Umber laud in Washington and have secured an option on It at ffl.fiO an acre, which they will probably pay dur ing tho coming yeat. Tho syndicate headed by Frederick Weyerhauser Is composed of tho leaditnr and wealthiest lumbermen of tho north west. Nearly all of the land sold lies along tho Seattle & Northern branch of tho Northern Pacific between Anacorteanud Hamilton and landaptcd to the manu facture of largedimension timber, which has long since become exhausted in Wis consin and Minnesota.
