Conditions Prevailing in Various Parts of the State. Wet, wet,, wet, seems to be the word most used when speaking of weather, though tho rainfall the past week has not been so great as people think. The amounUrangos from 1 to 1.50 inches with much wind. The heavy rains in iu euuiiierii tiers oi counties was baillv need. Notwithstanding tho lato cold wet spring the lato sown spring grain is Htooling well. Tho crop cannot possibly bo ns large as average.becauso the short ago in the acreage of winter wheat can not be mado up by a largo acreage of spring sown grain now, as it is too lato. Tho agricultural report shows that tho fruit propects have not improved. In Douglas county the prttnu crop will not bo an average one, but other fruits npjoar to bo in good condition. In Josephine and Jackson counties good fruit prospects prevail.and tho same can bo said for Coos and Curry counties. In the Willamette Valley counties tho Italian prunes aro practically a failure other varieties of pru'nes will bo less than tho average. Tho pear crop will bo short in some localities and nearly normal in others. The apple crop is now quite promising. Tho cherry crop will bo nearly an. average, though in places tho cherries have dropped quito ma terially. Strawberries aro ripening in the southern counties and are well bet in the northern; other lierries aro promis ing. Tho hay crop will be a largo ono nnd if tho weather will permit it to bo prop erly saved there will bo no need of ship ping hay from Southern Oregon to this end of tho valley. in rcguru to nops tnero never was a finer prospect for a general good crop, though tho yards aro gradually getting a start of the workmen and some heroic work will have to bo dono when the weather does permit. Not many hop growers arc contracting their yards, though some old contracts aro yet in force, but it is not likely that many now ones will bo made. It is now apparent that Jhe prune crop will Im? almost a failure, though there will bo a few to can and preserve, thoro will be iiono to dry. In tho hill country, south of Salem, whore there was some thought of a crop tho long wet spell has caused much of it to drop, un til now but very little romains on tho trees. Tho commissioner of horticulture of tho Second district says of Polk county, after a visit in different parts, that there would probably be but about 10 per cent of a full crop. The Oiegon Institute for the Blind Closed for Summer Vacation. At tho Oregon Institute for the Blind tho closing exercises for tho school year, were held Wednesduy afternoon. Tho program was rendered without a single hesitation or error, which means a great deal of patience and labor for both teacher and pupil. Tho little folks did particularly well, they seemed so un conscious of self and did thoir best to please. That' they succeeded was shown by tho prolonged npplauso each and ovury number received.
