The latter, howeyer, watched his op portunity, and Jumping to his feet started to run uway, when Fulton tired, missing him tho first tlmo, but striking him In tho face the second time, carrying away the greator por tion or his mouth and nose. Wlllard fell apparently dead, and Fulton started to obtain licit) to care for the injured men, leaving Miller on guard with . tho rllle In hand. Miller stepped back to aid Lamcrs, who was lying on tho ground desporotcly wounded, whon Wlllard wns noticed to bo fumbling with his belt.
