Nine Niuhts Commencing Thursday Sept. 22 Great Amusement Enterprise The Butncr Thealer Company Opening in the Beautiful Society Drama "La Belle Marie" PIHST TRACE OF CHIME. J. II. Fletcher and Ben Tuylor while hunting u week ago last Friday round a hat In the underbrush along the river bank nearly opposite the spot where the body was round. Mr. Taylor will search for the hat again today and possibly it may lead to some clue as to tho man's Identity. C. S. Tate, a traveling razor peddler, was In to view the dead man and identified him as a man whom he had seen about Sllycrton several days. tie said deceased was waiting oh a young lady at that place, and was a frequent visitor In the town while he was there. The deceased was at the time negot iating for the purchase of a Hyery business In Silvcrton. He further stated that he was a passenger with him from The Dalles to Portland. . About two weeks ago a man by the name of Sink from Wasco county was In Salem searching for his brother, Ray Sink. Sink was a german and belongs to a well to do family In East ern Oregon. He traced his brother to Sllverton, where he was paying at tention to a young lady of that place, ana tlien back to Salem again when he lost trace or him. By taking into consideration J,he stories or the razorman and the search or Sink for his brother, together with the fact that the murdered man had a ticket from Eastern Oregon on his person when found and also the oplns Ion of many persons that the deceased was of German descent, It would ap pear that the man's Identity has been established. The date of the murder Is concluded tohave been between the uth and 12th or September. Plaster shayed him on Friday the 9th and from tho ap pearance of the man's race he was killed within a day or two,as his face Is perfectly smooth, E. Moore says he knew Sink, and built a house for him on his farm three miles north west of Wasco. The two Sink brothers nnd their father own about 2000 acres or land in Slier- man county. Moore thinks he was about 40 years or age, and Is consid ered a "little off" ut times. The theory that robbery was the motive of the crime finds some sub stantiation In the fact that the hotel keeper at Sllverton, where the mur dered man stopped stated that the man seemed to have 'a good deal of money as a oig roil or greenbacks was seen .In his posesslon. This taken with the fact that his pockets were turned wrong side out and no money was found on his person would jlead one to believe he had been robbed. Sheriff Durbln and his deputies are close on track of all information. Mr. Durbln Is in Silvcrton, and will no doubt bring some light on the subject, Prosecuting Attorcey Hayden Is also looking Into the case closely. ioi cro aBB8$BM3WMMSfc NG FAST ON m Our stock is rapidly diminishing at the prices we are making.
